What if Walt Disney ran a baseball team?

Baseball’s Evolution in South Carolina

Disney and P.T. Barnum would probably never buy a baseball team.

They’d be infuriated by the slow pace and lack of consideration for the fans’ attention.

They certainly wouldn’t let more than 2 minutes pass between pitches during an at-bat.

But, if they did, they’d probably run their team like Jesse Cole.

Jesse and his wife own the Savannah Bananas, a minor-league baseball team that has taken the internet by storm.

Mid-game dance breaks, fast-paced games, and a dance team composed of grandmas make the Bananas the spiritual heir to basketball’s Harlem Globetrotters.

It’s also a fantastic business. With over 5 million followers on social media, the Bananas consistently make $200,000 per home game from 4,000 fans. A shockingly large number for a team that competed in the Coastal Plain League's West division through 2022.

Over time, industries often lose the script. It’s up to entrepreneurs to re-center the focus on the customer. If you do, you’ll be rewarded.
