Scaling Up

Stats from Verne Harnish

There are over 28 million firms in the US.

96% make less than $1 million annually

4% surpass $1 million

Only .4% get to $10 million

Once you get to $50 million in revenue, you’re talking about less than 20,000 companies.

These stats can either be deflating or inspiring. The difference is perspective.

A glum statistician will say, “I probably won’t be an outlier, so why bother trying.”

But remember, Optimists and Pessimists are usually both right.

An optimist, with a commitment to operational excellence, is the only one with a chance.
