Compounding Empathy

you'll be so much better in a decade

Empathy. It’s just another way to frame customer-centricity. You can use the Value Equation to hone in on what your buyer needs. It’s *relatively* straightforward.

Marketplace entrepreneurs increase the degree of difficulty. When Uber, Airbnb, or Instacart connect buyers and sellers, they have to empathize with both sides. If you fail on either front, the whole enterprise will fall apart.

It took Po Shen-Loh over a decade to figure out how to do this well. 2020 laid bare that live online education is largely awful. As a Carnegie Mellon University professor, math olympiad coach, and EdTech entrepreneur, he knew there had to be a better experience for both students AND teachers.

To find a solution, he went to the source. He spoke with top high school math students and studied the entertainment livestreams on Twitch that garner tens of thousands of concurrent viewers.

It yielded LIVE, a platform where young geniuses teach math using the principles of improv comedy. No blame is placed on students who find conventional classes boring. No expectation is put on a math whiz to also know how to be entertaining.

Po’s empathy yields a solution that satisfies all parties. He comes last, and that’s why he’ll win.
