Legit Serial Entrepreneurship

Tracy Young sold her company to Autodesk for $875M in 2018.

Tracy’s founding insight was born from her career as a construction engineer and her confusion over the analog processes behind building a hospital.

Paper blueprints had to be re-printed and re-distributed every time there was a change. It was frustrating, slow and inefficient. There had to be a better way?

In 2011, she teamed up with four friends and founded PlanGrid. The startup digitized those paper blueprints.

Within six years, their platform attracted over 12,000 customers in 85 countries. The pain point was shared by lots of other construction companies. And PlanGrid got them onboard exceptionally efficiently.

Upon acquisition, Tracy’s startup had only raised $69 million. That means it was a win for her investors, employees, and cofounders.

So, now she can just sit back and relax, right?

Nope.

She’s back with another startup which “tracks and predicts the future performance of a sales team”.

The great founders can’t turn off the itch to build companies, provide value, and solve problems. Now she gets to carry the lessons learned from her first startup into the next.

It all compounds. Get (and stay) in the game.
