Who can Fix this for Me?

the Art of Clever Laziness

To the hammer, everything is a nail. To the entrepreneur, every problem is theirs to solve.

That’s why you’re an entrepreneur.

Entrepreneurs ‘do it all’.

Sometimes.

At first, entrepreneurs copy others but then innovate. At first, entrepreneurs do their own taxes but then hire accountants. At first, entrepreneurs work in the business, but then they work on the business.

Every problem is an opportunity and every opportunity has a problem solver

But entrepreneurs aren’t lazy enough when it comes to solving those problems.

Kinko’s founder Paul Orfalea admits that he is lazy. But it’s clever laziness. Orfalea doesn’t want to do certain kinds of work because he knows there’s someone better. He’s always asking: Who can fix this for me?

Entrepreneurs, like the proverbial hammer, get focused on the doing and not on the asking - who can do this better than me? Certain parts of a business have clear lines, like taxes. But other parts deserve more inquiry.
