Disney's Trash

Do it the right way

Among the tourists. Among the super fans, family trippers wearing matching shirts, and children, there is a certain Disney character.

It’s no one from a movie or television show. There’s no merchandise with their likeness. No one wants their souvenir photo.

It’s a Disney employee, but not a ride operator, food prepper, or smiling cashier.

It’s the “white-collar” staff. Guests can identify them by the trash picker in their hand.

From day one, Walt Disney wanted his people to get out there and walk around the park. They had to walk in the guest’s shoes. That tradition continues today and includes collecting the rare wrapper on the ground.

Visiting competitors is another way to get out. If another business has market share it means they’re doing something right.

If it’s as simple as location, good, when you expand keep that in mind. Maybe it’s more or fewer hours. The NFL plays seventeen games each season, 7-11 is open for twenty-four hours, and Disney is open every day. What about your business?

There are no magic wand solutions. You know this. But there are ways to be better. Go find them, whether in your kingdom or beyond.
